Summary
[edit]DescriptionChurch of St Andrew, Nuthurst; Noel Roland Abbey of Sedgwick Park memorial.jpg |
English: Marble mural monument in the Grade II listed St Andrew's Church on Nuthurst Street (aka Harriots Hill) in the village of Nuthurst, West Sussex, England, to Noel Roland Abbey (25 December 1897 – 12 April 1918 at the Battle of the Lys), Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards and son of William Henry Abbey of Sedgwick Park and his wife Florence Belcher. In 1931 the executors of Mrs Henderson sold the estate of Sedgwick Park to William Henry Abbey, and he in turn sold it in 1947 to Lord Rotherwick. William was Chairman of Kemp Town Brewery. He bought the Uckfield House estate in September 1924 for £61,714 and sold a large part of it a week later. He bought Sedgwick Park, Horsham in 1932 and sold it in 1947. He also bought Candover Hall in Shropshire in the 1930s but never lived there. He married Florence Belcher in Steyning, Sussex. Arms of Noel Roland Abbey: Abbey quartering Belcher (Paly of six or and gules, a chief vair) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.67).
Camera: Canon EOS 6D Mark II with Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM lens. Software: File lens-corrected, optimized, perhaps cropped, with DxO OpticsPro 11 Elite, and likely further optimized with Adobe Photoshop CS2. |
