Çinili Camii
Summary
[edit]DescriptionCinili camii uskudar.jpg |
English: Located in the center and on Çinili Mescid street, the mosque has a square plan and a single dome. The square space is surrounded by a large narthex with a wooden roof resting on twenty marble columns with octagonal cross-sections and lozenges on three sides, except for the direction of the qibla. The narthex of the mosque, which was built on a high platform, is reached by stairs in the north and west. The wooden cover was lengthened, forming two eaves whose skirts stepped on two columns on the northern staircase and three on the western one. The north wall of the mosque, the window pediments on both sides of the entrance, is covered with partially destroyed tiles. This situation and the fact that the marble columns on which the wooden roof sits are closed with an iron grid give the feeling of a second place instead of the narthex. |
