Summary
[edit]DescriptionCitroen redrocket bx 19gti (3260875086).jpg | I traded the 360 GLT in for this, a 1988 Citroën BX 1.9 GTi, later dubbed "The Red Rocket" by the girls - with 125bhp and only just over 1000kg, it was indeed quite quick! I had it for nine years and from 8k miles to 135k miles, and it was one of the best cars I've ever had. Quick, grippy, handled well, reasonably economical, very space-efficient with a huge boot, and that amazing Citroën hydropneumatic suspension. Despite my initial misgivings, it was very reliable, and nothing fell off. Seen here on holiday in its native France, in the Vendee in about June 1989, hence the yellow headlamp paint (France still required yellow headlamps back then) and the black tape to block the wrong-handed part of the dip beam. I eventually traded it in for my fourth Volvo, the V40 you can also find in my Cars set. I had "my" third Volvo in parallel - "Erik [the Not-Red]", the 740 GLE 2.3 wagon that Rachel mostly drove, also in my Cars set. |
