Description
Deutsch: Öl auf Leinwand Monets großartiges Spätwerk entstand in der Abgeschiedenheit seines Landhauses in Giverny, einem kleinen Ort nördlich von Paris, wo er einen Garten nach japanischen Vorbildern hatte anlegen lassen. Im Mittelpunkt seines Schaffens standen bis zu seinem Tod 1926 die Teiche mit Seerosen. Die Besonderheit des abgebildeten Gemäldes ist die Aufhebung der Symmetrie in der Verteilung der Seerosen: Die dunklen Spiegelungen nehmen fast drei Viertel der rechten Seite ein, während die Spiegelungen des Himmelslichts ganz nach links gerückt sind.
