Summary[edit]
DescriptionCleveland, Central, 2018 - Gifford House, Prospect Avenue Historic District, Midtown, Cleveland, OH (28326057748).jpg |
This historic Tudor Revival-style house is located on Prospect Avenue in Cleveland's Central neighborhood, adjacent to the McBride Mansion. Constructed in 1901, the house was designed by William W. Sabin for Dr. William Gifford, and is one of several surviving grand homes in the Prospect Avenue Historic District. The house survived the decline and commercial redevelopment of the surrounding neighborhood during the 20th Century, and was used for years as a fraternity house associated with nearby Cleveland State University. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, along with several nearby structures, and, in 2011-12, was restored and renovated, and is now home to office space and an apartment.
