| Description |
The Tavern Club is located in this large hybrid Renaissance Revival and Tudor Revival-style structure located at the corner of Prospect Avenue and East 36th Street in Cleveland's Central neighborhood. Constructed in 1905, the building was designed by J. Milton Dyer, and has apparently changed very little since its construction in appearance or function. The Tavern Club was founded in 1892, and remains active, despite a general decline in recent decades in the membership of similar organizations throughout the city and country. The building, along with several other nearby structures on Prospect Avenue, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and remains a well-preserved relic of the affluent population that called this area home into the early 20th Century.
