Pantai selatan di Taman Nasional Meru Betiri terbentuk dari endapan lumpur yang dibawa oleh sungai-sungai yang meluap pada saat banjir yang menggenangi hampir seluruh daerah dataran rendah di kawasan ini termasuk ladang-ladang penduduk, dan tertahan oleh batuan karang di pantai dan arus pasang surut air laut. Oleh sebab itu pantai-pantai berwarna pasir cokelat, dan bukan pasir hitam atau pasir putih seperti di daerah lain, dan menjadi pilihan naluri bagi hewan penyu untuk berkembang biak dengan membenamkan telurnya di dalam kehangatan pasir pantai. Pada saat banjir, sungai yang memisahkan desa Sukamade dengan desa Sumbersuko meluap dan memutuskan jalur transportasi menuju desa Sukamade. Tampak pada foto, endapan sisa luapan simpangan sungai yang mulai mengering di pantai Rajegwesi.
