Ty Cobb and Edward Walsh photograph, 1922 December Accession Number BL-291-69 Abstract A black-and-white photograph of Ty Cobb and Edward Walsh. The image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Ty Cobb, veteran slugger, and Ed Walsh, who holds an enviable record as a pitcher but who is now an American League umpire, are trying to show one another new curves and are using snow in place of the regulation 'pill.' Both players are in New York for the American League session at the Hotel Commodore. Cobb who comes from Georgia has not seen snow for more than ten years and is not so sure that he cares much for it. Photo shows the veterans, Cobb on the left and Walsh on the right." The photograph was taken in December. The exact year is ripped off but other similar photographs are dated as 1922.
