Summary
[edit]DescriptionCoburg Bahnhofstrasse 38.jpg |
English: Coburg, the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Raststrasse. In the front of the picture runs Bahnhofstrasse (the local train station is to the left outside the picture) whereas the junction on the right of the picture resembles Raststrasse. Today the estate is part of the voluminous building complex of a German insurance company. The picture shows the twin or duplex house 38/40 Bahnhofstrasse which was erected about 1895 in Art Nouveau style. Number 40 is the left part, number 38 the right part of the apartment building complex which extends into Raststrasse. The entrances to both houses are directly adjacent at Bahnhofstrasse, in the center of the building where the facade is slightly recessed. House number 40 in April 1920 was bought by Alfred D. Bamberger originating from Lichtenfels, in order to manage a branch office of the firm D. Bamberger. Right after his marriage he bought house number 38 where he lived with his wife on second floor, later with their three children. – From 1928 the physician Erich Braun practised at 40 Bahnhofstrasse on third floor which is on the far left of this picture (four windows). |
