Description

This is a sculpture of the BLyS (pronounced bliss) protein which stimulates lymphocyte proliferation, allowing production of antibodies in a mounting immune response.

This is one part of a beautiful 80 ft sculpture by Mara Haseltine titled "Waltz of the Polypeptides" which shows the BLys protein being translated by a ribsome running along message RNA. The entire sculpture is on display at the Cold Spring Harbor Labs in Long Island, NY.
