| Description |
English: Built in 2010-2012, this Contemporary building was designed by Clark Nexsen to house the College Of Health and Human Sciences at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The building features a terraced massing that follows the contours of the sloped site, large terraces on two levels of the building's exterior that feature planters and landscaping, a curtain wall with light shelves and horizontal mullions that screen the interior from thermal gain caused by sunlight, opaque green, silver, and black trim, red brick cladding on the sides and rear of the building, a large interior atrium with a wooden panel ceiling, open staircases, and balconies overlooking the lower levels, and contains classrooms, laboratories, meeting spaces, offices, and a coffee shop. The building was the first academic structure built by Western Carolina University on their Millennial Campus, located west of North Carolina Highway 107 and the main campus. |
