Description
English: James Hilton (Glyn Trevor) was actually born in Leigh Lancashie but lived in this modest house in Walthamstow whilst his father was a local headmaster. He was sent to the Leys School in Cambridge (as seen in this link and also here/a> His books ,made into films, are listed on the above plaque. Another commemorative tablet is found in Leigh Town Hall, Lancashire. rather than on his nearby birthplace. His was also associated with Leigh Rugby Football Club, whose new post war ground was named Hilton Park of which he was chairman. In 1995, Hilton's name was removed when it became the Centurion. Now it has been demolished.
