Summary[edit]
DescriptionColor Photograph of Pope St. Pius X, NPG, 1907, Series 2 No. 1. NPG (Neue Photographische Gesellschaft) of Steglitz in Berlin, Germany.png |
English: Postcard of a real color photograph of Pope St. Pius X, taken in 1907 by the NPG (Neue Photographische Gesellschaft) of Steglitz in Berlin. This postcard is labeled Series 2 No. 1.
The NPG opened their studio for color photography in 1905. This was likely the first such studio in the world. Many prominent residents of Berlin had their pictures taken in color. The pictures were taken by the well-known color separation method and printed by Robert Krayn's printing process. As more practical color photography methods become popular (mainly the Autochrome), the NPG stopped their early color photography. Postcard scan from my collection. |

The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.

If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.
