Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built circa 1860, this Carpenter Gothic Revival-style house was constructed for Monroe Allison, with various sections added to the house over time as the Allison family grew in size and wealth. The house features a rough-hewn stone base, a gabled roof, board-and-batten wooden siding, decorative wooden trim on the edges of the roof, a side porch with spindlework and decorative wooden brackets, gabled dormers, gothic arched windows on the gable ends, four-over-four double-hung windows, a rooftop belvedere with a pyramidal hipped roof, and a shed-roof ell at one end of the house. The house is a contributing structure in the Metamora Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, and is presently being restored after a period of abandonment.
