Summary[edit]

Description
English: comparison of a logitudinal and a transverse harmonic 1-dimensional wave. If oscillators of the transverse wave are turned 90° clockwise around their point of equilibrium you get the displacement of the oszillators of the longitudinal wave. (a) mark spots of high pressure and (b) mark the spots of low pressure. λ showes the wavelength.
