Español: En la comunidad de Jilotepec, Estado de México, existe una tradición que sólo se lleva a cabo en este lugar. La tradición "Xhita" (Toro en otomí), es una festividad anual que se lleva a cabo durante los 40 días previos al sábado de gloria (el carnaval), para pedir por una buena cosecha. Cada elemento que utilizan los individuos que se visten de Xhita tiene un significado, en la cabeza llevan el tradicional "greñero" hecho de colas de vaca o caballo y los cuernos, ya que el Xhita representa al toro que lleva el arado; el acocote, tradicionalmente realizado a partir del maguey, pero que con el tiempo se ha actualizado y ahora es comun observar acocotes de PVC, con este simulan el bufido del toro, y un látigo que truenan en el viento para llamar al trueno, las lluvias. Los Xhitas recorren las calles de la comunidad llevando a un santo en su peregrinar comandado por su respectiva Madama. |
