This image is a composite image. It has been made from two separate images. The first image is an oil on panel painting in the Ahsmolean Museum in oxford. The second image has been superimposed on top of this first image. This second image is a chalk drawing from a sketchbook that is in a private collection.[1]


The caption for this image in this book, "Eros Visible", is as follows: "Figure 1.7 superimposed on Studio of Leonardo da Vinci (Gian Giacomo Caprotti known as Salai?), St John the Baptist, c. 1508 - 10. Oil on panel, 75 x 53.4cm. Ashmolean Museum, Oxford"[1]
