Español: El Congreso Nacional de Argentina es el órgano que ejerce el poder legislativo del gobierno de la República Argentina. Es una asamblea bicameral, formada por una Cámara de Diputados, que consta de 257 diputados, y un Senado, que consta de 72 senadores.
El Congreso sesiona entre el 1 de marzo y el 30 de noviembre de cada año, aunque el Presidente de la Nación puede convocar sesiones extraordinarias o prorrogar su extensión.1 En el primer caso es el presidente quien determina los temas a tratar, mientras que en el segundo el Congreso tiene libre iniciativa. Según la interpretación de las Cámaras, esta prórroga de sesiones también puede ser ordenada por el Congreso.
English: The Congress of the Argentine Nation (Spanish: Congreso de la Nación Argentina) is the legislative branch of the government of Argentina. Its composition is bicameral, constituted by a 72-seat Senate and a 257-seat Chamber of Deputies.
The Congressional Palace is located in Buenos Aires, at the western end of Avenida de Mayo (at the other end of which is located the Casa Rosada). The Kilometre Zero for all Argentine National Highways is marked on a milestone at the Congressional Plaza, next to the building. |
