Actina F (líneas rojas), microtúbulos (tubos gruesos azules), extremos positivos MT (+), puntos de contacto de adhesión (verde).
Los filopodios están formados por haces de actina F y los lamelipodios por redes de actina F.

El flujo retrógrado de actina F en el dominio P se equilibra entre las tasas de polimerización y despolimerización de actina F y las fuerzas de tracción basadas en miosina en la TZ. Las fuerzas de actomiosina en la TZ restringen la entrada de MT en el dominio P. El compromiso de la actina F con los puntos de contacto de adhesión ralentiza la tasa de flujo retrógrado de la actina F y facilita la invasión de MT a la periferia del cono de crecimiento, lo que determina el crecimiento y la dirección.
