Description
English: Consecration of the Saint Constantine and Elena Cathedral, Bălţi on June 2, 1935. The Ecumenical Patriarch Photios II was represented by the Metropolitan of Australia Timotheos. The consecration ceremony was also attended by the king Carol II. The cornerstone was laid on September 24, 1924 by Visarion Puiu together with Patriarch Damianus of Jerusalem, Miron Cristea, Metropolitan of Moldova Pimen Georgescu, Gurie Grosu, Carol II. Between 1923-1935, Visarion Puiu was bishop of Hotin, his seat being in Bălţi.
Română: La 2 iunie 1935, a avut loc sfinţirea Catedralei Sfinții Împărați Constantin și Elena din Bălți. În anii ’30, Bălţiul s-a bucurat de prezenţa unei mari personalităţi din lumea clerului, care nu numai a schimbat atmosfera culturală a acestui oraş, înnobilând-o, dar a fost şi ctitorul Catedralei orăşeneşti, al Episcopiei şi al altor instituţii din capitala nordică a Basarabiei. Arhiepiscopul Visarion Puiu a lăsat provinciei volumul Monăstirile din Basarabia (1919), carte de căpătâi pentru persoanele care studiază această temă, precum şi câteva edificii din ansamblul Catedralei din Bălţi. La scurt timp după sfinţirea catedralei la 2 iunie 1935, episcopul Visarion Puiu a fost trecut cu serviciul la Cernăuţi şi bălţenii au memorizat ceremonia de sfinţire a sfântului locaş şi ca pe un acord de adio al acestui inimos slujitor al cultului.
