English: Aerial photo, looking south-southeast, of Francis Scott Key Bridge, the Potomac River bridge that connects Washington, D.C., and Rosslyn, Virginia. Road traffic is visible: automobiles, trucks, a camper and and one PCC streetcar operated by the Capital Transit Company. Also visible are the beginnings of construction of the Whitehurst Freeway and the all-but-demolished piers of the Aqueduct Bridge. Taken in June 1948 by T. Welby Kines, one of three staff photographers of the United States Bureau of Public Roads. |
