English: Continental frigate 'Alliance' passing Boston lighthouse on its return from France in 1780, painting by Captain Matthew Parke USMC, (1746-1813). A contemporary painting by Parke, who served on board Alfred and Ranger with John Paul Jones; and the Alliance with John Barry. Painting presented to Naval Historical Foundation by Captain Parke’s great granddaughter Miss Anne H. Parke, Feb 1936. NHHC Photograph Collection, NH 1336.
