Corallina vancouveriensis in a tidepool near Piedras Blancas Light, Calif.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Corallina vancouveriensis, ID by me (a non-expert!) from guidebooks and centralcoastbiodiversity.org/graceful-coral-seaweed-bull-corallina-vancouveriensis.html Note the cavet there (and elsewhere) that taxomomy in this genus is in a state of flux, and that some valid species can only be ID'd by genetic sequencing. Not a practical technique in the field! Location: small tidepool on the rocky beach just north the old Light Station. I'm pretty sure the beach itself belongs to Calif State Parks.
