Description Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Joplin tornado recovery effort, Col. Daniel Patton, speaks at a press conference at the opening of temporary replacement facilities for Joplin’s fire station 2 in Joplin, Mo., July 1, 2011. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers oversaw the project as part of its mission to provide temporary replacements for critical public infrastructure like schools and fire stations after an EF-5 tornado caused widespread destruction in the Joplin area May 22. Fire station 2 was completed six days ahead of schedule. (U.S. Army Photo/Chris Gray-Garcia)
