Description
English: 12. The Broken Sword, a 10th c. viking sword from Vold, Hedmark, Norway, deliberately bent and destroyed before buried as a grave gift. Photo taken at the VÍKINGR – Viking Age exhibition, an exhibition in the Museum of Cultural History of the University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway, showing some of the most exquisite objects the museum has from the Norwegian Viking Age. Norsk bokmål: 14. Det bøyde sverdet, et vikingtidssverd fra Vold i Hedmark, datert til 900-tallet. Våpenet er bevisst blitt bøyd og ødelagt før det ble lagt i jorda som gravgave. Flere av sverdene som er funnet i vikinggraver, er brukket eller foldet sammen med spor av harde slag og voldsom behandling. Kanskje «våpendrap» var en del av ritualene knyttet til overgangen mellom de levende og de dødes verden. Fra utstillinga «VÍKINGR» i Kulturhistorisk Museum i Oslo.
