[edit]DescriptionCupid and Psyche - Panel 3 (12888576784).jpg |
Panel 3 - Top Row Window 13: The next day, Psyche continues to live in the castle and is waited upon by the nymphs, whom she still cannot see. Window 14: Psyche is amazed by the incredible wealth and opulence of the castle but wonders who her husband is and is lonely because she cannot see anyone in her new home. From far below, she hears the voices of her two sisters and that night pleads with Eros to bring them up to visit her. Window 15: After first refusing, and against his better judgment, Eros agrees to send a Zephyr to bring Psyche’s two sisters to come visit her. Panel 3 - Bottom Row Window 16: Psyche’s sisters are amazed by the palace and wealth but want to see Psyche’s husband. She tells them that he is out hunting that day. Window 17: Psyche’s sisters come for a second visit and once again question her about her husband. This time she tells them that he is an older man and a merchant who is off on an expedition. Window 18: On their third visit, Pysche admits that she cannot see her husband. Upon hearing this her sisters tell her that her husband must be the horrible beast the oracle spoke of after all and that Psyche must kill it before it kills her. They have her a lantern so that she can see her husband in the dark room and a dagger. That night, Psyche lights the lantern and see Eros sleeping in her bed (center). After realizing that Eros is not a monster, she sees his bow and arrows near the bed and looks at them. She pricks a finger on one of Eros’s arrows and falls forever hopelessly in love with Eros (right). Eros awakes and realizes that he has been seen and flees out the window (left). Psyche tries to catch him, but he evades her. |
