Description

Panel 4 - Top Row

Window 19: Psyche runs after Eros, but he flies into a tree. Psyche is left on a barren rock near the trunk and despairs.

Window 20: Psyche meets the god of the woods, Pan, and asks for his advice. He warns her of trials to come but tells her that if she follows his guidance she will regain her Eros.

Window 21: Psyche tells her two sisters that her husband is the god Eros and that she must go in search of him and therefore cannot return with them to the earth.

Panel 4 - Bottom Row

Window 22: Aphrodite finds Psyche’s two sisters and whispers to them that in order to return from the Palace of Love they need to jump off a certain tower so that the Zephyr can catch them and carry them to the palace. When the two sisters jump, however, there is no Zephyr and they both fall to their deaths.

Window 23: Psyche is distraught and tries to drown herself in a river but she can’t. The river nymphs protect her from drowning and carry her back to shore.

Window 24: Aphrodite is furious with her son Eros (right). She wants to catch Psyche and punish her. She calls together the Demeter and Juno, the wife of Zeus, and tells them what happens. She makes both of them promise not to help Psyche.
