SUPREME HEADQUARTERS

ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE Psychological Warfare Division

1 November 1944.

Leaflets appearing in this booklet are produced by the Leaflet Section, P.W.D.-SHAEF and dropped in the combat areas on the basis of avail- able target and morale intelligence.  They represent a small selection of the total output, since the majority of previous leaflets have been superseded by the changing military and morale picture. A few of the previous leaflets are contained in the Appendix (after the blank pages whic are left for insertion of future standard leaflets).

The current, more or less “timeless” leaflets shown on the following pages are available for dissemination by heavy or medium bombers, as part of the combat propaganda program of P.W.D., which also includes news dissemina- tion and more short-term appeals.  They represent that part of the total output which is also being supplied to the combat teams for artillery and fighter- bomber dissemination, supplementing the very considerable tactical output of the Army and Army Group teams.  The comments appearing under each leaflet are to guide in the selection and explain the reasoning, experience and policy on which they are based.

MARIN F. HERZ, Captain, Infantry Chief, Combat Leaflets.

Approved.

FRANK A. KAUFMAN Chief, Leaflet Section

R. H. S. CROSSMAN, Civilian Deputy, P.W.D.

Approved for restricted dissemination.  The policy background and psych- ological reasoning behind our leaflet program and the attempted coordination with the prevailing battle siuation, are matters which we wish to keep from the enemy, as they would be useful to his counterpropaganda activities.  For that reason, no part of this booklet may be published without specific clearance by P.W.D., through censorship.

R. A. McLURE, Brigadier General, G.S.C.,

Chief, Psychological Warefare Division
