Looking across the Zone border to Döhren, in East Germany. I took this photo from my regular route between the barracks in Heidwinkel and the work site in Bahrdorf. The border is a fance across the center of the photo. There is a railroad line on the other side of the fence. It originally crossed the border. Note the guard tower in the center of the photo. Mackendorf was the closest town on the West German side. The geotag is probably the camera location, in West Germany. what was once the Zone border is now the border between the states of Niedersachsen (West) and Sachsen-Anhalt (East). |
