[edit]DescriptionDEU Altkreis Coesfeld COA.svg |
English: Coat of arms from the former Kreis Coesfeld:
„Per pale gules, a benedictive bishop clothed Argent, in his left a crozier Argent, at his feet a goose Or and Or a fess gules.“ The arms were granted on August 8, 1956. The right part of the arms show St. Liudger, the main missionary under the German and Frisian tribes in the 8th century, and founder of the Prince-Bishopric of Münster. He is buried in Billerbeck in the district. The left part shows the arms of Münster, as the district historically belonged to Prince-Bishopric of Münster till 1803. |
