Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Bergerhausen, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen:
„In Rot wachsend über einem grünen Dreiberg, belegt mit gekreuzten silbernen (weißen) Schlägel und Eisen, ein silbernes (weißes) Haus mit schwarzem Fachwerk.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Es handelt sich hier um ein klassisches "redendes Wappen", das Haus (-hausen) auf dem Berg (Dreiberg, Berger-). Die frühere Schreibweise "Bergahuson" bedeutet "Bewohner eines Berges". Schlägel und Eisen deuten auf den früheren Eisenerz- und Steinkohlenbergbau hin.

English: „Gules , above a triple mountain vert charged with hammer and pick Argent, a rising house Argent with timbered framework sable.“

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms are canting; the house stands for "-hausen" and the triple mountain for "Berger-". Hammer an pick symbolise coal and iron ore mining in former times.
