Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Altendorf (Ruhr) jetzt Burgaltendorf, seit 1970 Stadtteil von Essen:
„In Silber (Weiß) drei aufrechte schwarze Pferdeprammen mit Kordeln im Verhältnis 2:1.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Das Wappen ist abgeleitet vom Wappen der Burgherren von Altendorf, welche allerdings drei silberne Pferdeprammen im roten Schild führten, die verwandten Herren von Horst führten im silbernen Schild drei rote Prammen. Als Ordensritter im Osten führte eine Linie derer von Altendorf genau dieses Wappen; drei schwarze Prammen in Silber.

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms are derived from the Lords of Altendorf, chevaliers in the east of the former parts of Germany.
