Deutsch: Formulierung der Hauptsatzung: „Das Stadtwappen zeigt im grünen Schilde einen von links oben nach rechts unten schräg verlaufenden silbernen Wellenbalken, neben dem sich im oberen Felde ein silbernes Wannenmachereisen, im unteren Felde ein silbernes Weberschiffchen befindet.“ Die korrekte Blasonierung lautet wie folgt: „In Grün ein silberner (weißer) Schrägwellenbalken, begleitet oben von einem silbernen (weißen) Wannenmachereisen, unten von einem silbernen (weißen) Weberschiffchen.“ Das Wappen wurde noch vor der Stadterhebung (1938) vom Oberpräsidenten der Provinz Westfalen am 17. August 1937 verliehen. Es versinnbildlicht durch den Wellenbalken die Lage an der Ems. Die Werkzeuge erinnern an die Textilindustrie und an das früher bedeutsame Handwerk der Wannenmacher, das zum wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung der Gemeinde beitrug. Als "Wanne" bezeichnet man eine Kornschwinge, welche zum Reinigen des Getreides diente.
English: „Vert, a bend wavy Argent, accompanied above by a tool Argent of the basketry (Wannenmachereisen) and below by a shuttle Argent.“ The arms were granted on August 17, 1937. Even though Detten on the Ems was mentioned as a village with its own court in 1300, there are no old seals known. The oldest seal dates from the 19th century and showed a spindle (for the textile industry) and an anchor (for the shipping on the Ems). In 1937 the present arms were granted, whowing the Ems river with two tools; in the upper part a tool of the basketry and in the lower a shuttle used in the textile industry.
