Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 25. Oktober 1935 durch das preußische Staatsministerium genehmigt. Es zeigt den braunschweigischen geminderten Welfenlöwen ohne die sogenannte Leopardierung. Der Maueranker entstammt dem Wappen der Grafen von Plesse, die bis 1571 über das Amt Bovenden im nördlichen Kreisgebiet herrschten.
English: The arms were granted on October 25, 1935. The upper part of the arms show the lion of the Welfen dynasty, Dukes of Braunschweig. The lower part show the arms of the Counts of Plesse, who ruled the northern part of the district until 1571. |
