Deutsch: Das von Ebo Pannenborg entworfene Wappen wurde am 1. Juli 1975 vom Regierungspräsidenten in Aurich verliehen. Bis in die 1860er Jahre war die Haupterwerbsquelle der Bewohner Ostrhauderfehns die Torferzeugung. Der Torf wurde mit einem Spaten, einem sogenannten Bunkspaten oder Jager, abgetorft. Der Torf wurde auf kleinere Schiffe, die Tjalks, verladen und auf Kanälen seinem Bestimmungsort zugeführt. Aus dieser Tätigkeit erwuchs im Laufe der Jahrzehnte ein weiterer wichtiger Erwerbszweig der Fehntjer, die kleine und große Schifffahrt. Das Wappen symbolisiert sowohl den Torfabbau als auch die Schifffahrt, die blaue Welle verweist auf die Fehnkanäle als Transportweg. |
