Deutsch: „Das Wappen der Stadt Westerstede zeigt in einer weißen (silbernen) Schildfläche einen grünen Eichbaum auf grünem Hügel. Vor dem Eichbaum befindet sich ein spitzer gelber (goldener) Schild mit zwei roten Zick-Zack-Balken.“
English: „The arms were granted in 1955. The oak tree, a typical tree in the area, was already used on the local seals since 1918. The small shield shows the arms of the former Ammerland territory, as used by the Counts of Oldenburg in their arms.“
