Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Looks like a white Leyland National in the background, behind a Plaxton coach. In the centre, the eponymous Custom House. Behind the buses, Spillers' Millennium Mills. I suspect this shot is not possible now as a prime piece of land seems vacant next to the newly opened light railway here. The Excel centre now occupies must of this space. In the background, the red brick Port of London Authority CUSTOM HOUSE of 1920-4 by SIr Edwin Cooper. As Pevsner says, despite refurbishment in 1994-5, it was DEMOLISHED by 2000 to make way for the Excel Centre. A modern view may be seen here from 2009 |
