Summary[edit]

Description ATCHISON, Kan.--The confluence of the Walnut Creek Diversion Channel and Chute B looking north. Chute B is already constructed, shown on the right (west) side of the photo, and will flow from the top to the bottom of the picture (north to south). Walnut Creek (the line of trees at the top of the picture) will be diverted south. Two construction crews are working to excavate the diversion channel; one working from north to south and the other from south to north. Once the diversion channel is complete, the five earthen plugs will be removed and the system will be connected to Missouri River flows. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Alan Schlindwein)
