Description |
English: Halftone, Divided back, Series 755, 13.85x8.90cm
The postcard artist, who signed other cards in this India series published by an obscure Munich firm, was Johann Friedrich Perlberg (1848-1921). Son of a painter, he best known for his paintings of Egypt, Palestine and the Middle East, many of which were turned into postcards. While he visited those areas in the mid-1890s, there is no record of his being in India; nonetheless, some of his India and Sri Lanka cards are among the more beautiful and colorful landscape scenes. This card was sent to Mrs. Stella Lindlery, Hutsonville, Illinois and postmarked Newton, Illinois, Nov. 22, 1909: "Am feeling much better and talking of coming back to Crawford Co. [Colorado?] soon. Hope to see you when I come. Wish you and Arville would make use a visit. Mabel." |
