Description
English: Watercolor reproduction of the 1461 painting at Nunraw (White Castle) armorial, showing the "King of Egypt" shield with three adders. MacRitchie argues that this may be a representation of a Romani chieftain in Scotland, perhaps a direct ancestor of John Faa, styled "King of the Gypsies". See "Reviews. Handarbeiten der ungarischen Zeltzigeuner", in Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society, Vol. III, Issue 3, January 1892, pp. 178–181, and Scottish Gypsies under the Stewarts, pp. 27–28.
