English: We Should Have "Flying Dentists" In Outback
The incorporationg of "Flying Dentists" in the long-established State Flying Docotr service would bring urgently needed relief to a large number of dental sufferers in the vast, remote areas of the State, in the opinion of one of Queensland's highest medical authorities. Several members of Parliament have expressed their approval of the suggestion. The idea should engage the full and immediate attention of the Minister for Health and Home Affairs, Mr. T. A. Foley. Co-ordinated with the Queensland School Health Dental Service, the scheme would provide attention for a considerable number of the State's 200,000 school children, whose health has seriously been affected by chronical dental trouble, caused by neglect. ... School dental facilities at present include two rail clincis, mobile road clinics, and clinics at various centres. However, many children are denied these services by road and rail limitations. In some areas, where no rail facilties are available, if dentists be required for schools service, it is prescribed that the School Committee must make available transport for the dentists from the nearest rail centre.
