Description

The cloth spires of the main passenger terminal at Denver International Airport, which had been opened in 1995 to replace the venerable Stapleton Airport.

Denver International Airport takes up so much land, that it has more area than New York City, it is said. It is a ten-mile drive from the airport entrance, located near the site of Stapleton Airport, to the terminal. It is notable in being one of the world's busiest airports while offering very little in way of international services (a few Canadian and Mexican destinations, plus London and Frankfurt).

The bridge to the left leads to Concourse A, home to low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines, based here in Denver, as well as international flight arrivals. From there, underground trains lead to Concourse B (United Airlines hub) and Concourse C (other airlines). Denver is the second largest hub for pre-merger United Airlines, and the only one among five that I used only as a transit passenger, rather than as an origin/destination passenger. (This visit to Denver is via my car, for the record.)
