Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Penis of Deroceras invadens. The proximal part of the penis has been twisted over by the pin so as to reveal the side that is normally ventral. Some fingers of the appending penial gland are thereby hidden.

Characters of the penis are necessary to separate this species reliably from others. See: Reise et al. (2011) Deroceras panormitanum and congeners from Malta and Sicily, with a redescription of the widespread pest slug as Deroceras invadens n. sp. Folia Malacologica 19:201–233.

Collected from under laurel at the type locality (Nork Park, Surrey, England) on 9.xii.14. Dissection and photograph by J.M.C. Hutchinson

There is also a version of this file with English labels: Deroceras invadens ventral side of proximal penis labelled.svg.
