| Description |
Detroit skyline seen from Windsor, Ontario, across the Detroit River. The low, round building on the left is the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobo_Arena" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Cobo Arena</a>, where audiences have been entertained with sports as well as cultural events since 1960. It was here, on January 6, 1994, that the infamous assault on figure skater Nancy Kerrigan took place. The tall buildings in the middle of the photo are the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/150_West_Jefferson" rel="noreferrer nofollow">150 West Jefferson</a> in the front and the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_Building" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Fisher Building</a> behind it. The former is a 26 floors, 139 m tall skyscraper completed in 1989, the latter is an Art Deco office building constructed in 1928 that stands 130 m tall and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The tall building on the right is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Detroit_Center" rel="noreferrer nofollow">One Detroit Center</a>, at 43 stories and 189 m it's the tallest office building in Michigan and the second tallest overall in the state behind the central hotel tower of the Renaissance Center, a few blocks away. |
