Description
Deutsch: Die Tscherkessen, nach ihrer Überlieferung semitischer Abkunft, wohnen am Nordabhang des Kaukasus; durch die Vertreibung von etwa ½ Million im Jahre 1864 ist ihre Zahl auf ein Viertel zusammengeschmolzen. Im frühen Mittelalter Christen, traten sie später zum Islam über; sie gelten für das ritterlichste unter den kaukasischen Bergvölkern, für deren Trachten und Sitten sie zum grossem Teil maßgebend gewesen sind.
English: The Circassians, according to their tradition of Semitic origin, is located on the northern slope of the Caucasus; through the eviction of about half a million in 1864 their number one-quarter is melted together. In the early Middle Ages Christians, they came over later to Islam; they apply to the ritterlichste under the Caucasian hill tribes for their costumes and customs, they have been decisive for the large part.
