Description
English: Photo of a page from the booklet Die Uniformen der Braunhemden ("The Uniforms of the Brownshirts") published in Munich 1934, a guide of the paramilitary uniforms for members of the German Nazi Party (NSDAP) and its units and affiliated organisations, among which those of the SA (Sturmabteilung), SS (Schutzstaffel), political leadership corps, Hitler Jugend (HJ, Hitler Youth), Deutsche Jungvolk (DJ) and Bund der Deutsche Mädel (BdM).
  • Written and illustrated by Army Hauptmann and SA-Obergruppenführer Freiherr H. von Eelking (Hermann M. von Eelking, 1887 – 1970).
  • The 6 x 9 inch, 104 pages, illustrated, full-colour softcover book was published by the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachfolger in Munich, Germany, in 1934. It was not only published as a guide for uniforms of the paramilitary organisations of the Party, it was also a history of the uniforms of the Hitler movement. It starts with black and white illustrations of the earliest uniforms of the nazi party in 1923, then progresses to an alphabetical encyclopedic guide for all items on the nazi uniforms and full colour insignia.
