Been waiting almost a year to get back to editing photos I took at the Tucson Rock and Gem Show and this is one of my special captures. It's unusual to see <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dioptase" rel="noreferrer nofollow">dioptase</a> so gemmy, such a large mass on matrix and such unusual deep color. This is one of my favorite minerals and to see this specimen up close was a thrill. This is about 4" long and worth hundreds of dollars. Best view is large, of course. This was what I wrote last year about the vendor for these specimens: "This image and the previous two were taken in the vendor room for IKON, at Inn Suites for the Tucson Rock and Gem Show. I want to thank James and Mary for being so gracious with my son and I while we were visiting on Saturday! " They also had that great <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/cobalt/381329720/">autinite</a> specimen in the same display case. |
