Legend:

  1. Outer housing
  2. Thin insulator foil
  3. Live and Neutral inlet contacts
  4. Test button
  5. Toggle switch (main switch)
  6. Wire and contact for the resistor used by the test button
  7. Main contacts (interrupters) with insulate covering (in most cases the contactors' ends are made from Silver alloys)
  8. Cylindrical core with plastic covering. The red and copper colored wires are the live and neutral parts of this two threaded coil. The secunder coil (thin wire) is nearly hidden on the picture.
  9. Diode and condenser pair on the secunder coil. This is used for improving sensitivity and reducing false trips, while also used for proper fault detection behaviour in certain cases.
  10. Electromechanical tripping module. This makes the unit to be voltage-independent. Pre-tensioned springs are used to store the energy needed for quick interruption.
  11. Live and Neutral outgoing contacts (The sensing coil side always placed on the protected side of the circuit)
