Description
English: Dish with Apollo and Daphne. Schist, H. 3/16 in. (0.4 cm); Diam. 4 3/16 in. (10.6 cm). Pakistan (ancient region of Gandhara), ca. 1st century B.C. Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Similar dishes were found in the Gandharan city of Sirkap (Taxila) in contexts that suggest they were used for domestic rituals, perhaps to ensure a positive afterlife.
Français : Palette à fard avec Apollon et Daphné. Schiste, diamètre 10,6 cm. Gandhara, vers le 1er siècle avant notre ère. Des palettes similaires ont été trouvées sur le site de Sirkap (Taxila) au Gandhara dans des contextes qui suggèrent qu'ils étaient utilisés dans le cadre des rituels domestiques , peut-être afin d'de s'assurer une vie heureuse dans l'au-delà.
