Medición de la distancia Tierra-Sol observando el asteroide EXCALIBUR (9499) en oposición, es decir su elongación, el ángulo Sol-Tierra-Asteroide, igual a 180º. Pi es la paralaje del asteroide, o sea el ángulo formado por el "cambio de posición" del planeta enano respecto de una estrella cercana y desde dos observadores. Tal ángulo tiene una "linea de base" correspondiente a la distancia lineal entre tales observadores. La excentricidad de la órbita del asteroide Excalibur es de 0.0025925 y la de la Tierra es de 0.0167, ambas casi órbitas circulares, es por ello que la medida Tierra-Sol es aproximada a la Unidad Astronómica de 149,597,871.00 kms. Es mejor realizar la observación de un objeto celeste (asteroide) en oposición y que tenga una excentricidad muy próxima al círculo o sea al valor 0 (cero) para obtener la Unidad Astronómica verdadera. Tal es el caso del pequeño planeta Excalibur con una magnitud de +13.7 y período orbital de 1841.8184888 días. |
